David trying to learn something from mentor Alice Parker

Thanks for visiting my humble rest stop here on the information super-highway.  You are, most likely, one with an interest in choral music.  Me too!  I have worked for over thirty years in the field of church music, have directed or coordinated various clinics and summer choral programs, and was founder and Director of the [mostly] a cappella men’s ensemble, de Profundis.

Inhabiting these intersecting roles has given me the opportunity to do a fair amount of composing.  Available for purchase are pieces for mixed choir, men’s choir, and treble choir in the catalogs of Boosey and HawkesAlfred PublishingAugsburg FortressSanta Barbara Music PublishingKjos MusicChandler Music, Colla Voce Music, and Alliance Music

FREE STUFF!

But there are a whole bunch of other things I have written and publish myself and am happy to share without charge. Many were written for special occasions or for specific liturgical purposes and may fill a niche in your repertoire.  For some really fresh congregational music, take a look at the work I have done in collaboration with John Philip Newell for the spiritual retreat center of Casa del Sol, located near the home of the late Georgia O’Keefe on the 21,000-acre Ghost Ranch in the high desert of northern New Mexico.

To view the catalogs, return to the homepage and click on the voicing that interests you.  The list that comes up is alphabetical by title and provides a short description of the piece, a link to view the score, and in some cases a minute or so of a performance (most of them live) in MP3 format.  If you do find something you would like to perform with your choir or congregation, simply email me using the “Contact” button.  I’ll then send you a PDF that you can duplicate.  There’s no charge—I’m just interested in knowing where some of my little offspring might have found a home!
